Lafayette Garden Club is proud to be engaged in the education and support of our community.
COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES
Lafayette Library Throughout the year, members provide bouquets of flowers, artistically arranged, to beautify the Lafayette Library and Learning Center.
Penny Pines Garden Club members participate in reforestation by donating at each meeting to the Penny Pines project. At the end of the year, proceeds go to plant trees.
Civic Support The club gives annual donations to garden-related projects at schools and other local organizations.
CLUB ACTIVITIES
Plant Talk On the third Thursday of each month, members meet at a private home to discuss in depth a topic of interest to the members. Master Gardeners are in attendance, and snacks are served as well.
Garden Sharing Each month (except in the dead of winter) immediately following the monthly meeting, a member makes her home garden available for informal viewing. Members enjoy viewing the garden with the hostess available to answer questions about the plants.
Field Trips The Tours committee arranges field trips throughout the year to notable locations. Often they are in conjunction with monthly programs, as well as visits to interesting nurseries or gardens.
Horticulture At each monthly meeting, there is a short presention by members who are Master Gardeners. They may bring and discuss new plants from the nursery, or give members information regarding garden tasks appropriate for the season. They are always available for questions.
White Elephants and Used Book Sale At most monthly meetings, books and/or White Elephants are available for purchase. Some wonderful bargains can be found.
Floral Arrangements Talented members create lovely floral arrangements for the table at the general meeting, available for sale.
Parties Two parties take place every year, in December and June. These replace the monthly meeting, and are always well attended. The June party is often at the private home of a member. Table for Two Attractive table settings displayed at General Meetings.
